ALL ABOUT FREEZE-DRIED FOOD
Freeze-dried food removes moisture via a process of cryodesiccation. The ingredients are frozen before being placed in a vacuum. Through this process, moisture is removed as it forces the ice molecules to sublimate.
The drying process unlike other processes, does not alter the ingredients’ nutrient profile as the process does not subject the ingredients to temperatures above freezing.
There are two types of freeze-dried products available, freeze-dried raw and freeze-dried cooked.
For maximum nutrition, we personally prefer products that were freeze-dried raw over freeze-dried cooked.
Remember to rehydrate meals to increase the moisture content and enhance the benefits of the product.
